In brief

  • Read, link to and share this site freely. Ask before you reuse its photographs or text.
  • Nothing here is medical advice. Talk to your doctor before you start, and tell the teacher what they said.
  • An enquiry is not a booking. A place is yours when we confirm it with you.
  • You practise within your own limits, and you tell the teacher what they need to know to keep you safe.
  • Fees, timings and cancellation terms for a course or retreat are agreed with you in writing before it starts.
  • Indian law applies. We would rather talk than argue.

What these terms cover

These terms apply to avadhutayoga.com and to the classes, courses, workshops and retreats run by Avadhuta School of Yoga and Wellness, Vilasini Bhavan, Kovalam Beach Road, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala 695527, India, in person and online. Using the site or attending a class means you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the site or take a class, and tell us why, because we would like to know.

Using this site

The text, photographs, films and logo on this site belong to the school or are used with permission. You are welcome to read the site, link to any page, and share links wherever you like. You may not copy the photographs or the text for commercial use, republish them, or collect them automatically, without asking us first. The school's name and logo may not be used to suggest a connection that does not exist.

Links to YouTube, Google Maps and WhatsApp are there for convenience. Those services have their own terms, and what happens once you are on them is between you and them. We try to keep the site accurate and available, and correct errors when we find them, but we cannot promise it is free of mistakes or never offline.

Not medical advice

Everything on this site describes the school's practice and what its students have reported. It is not medical advice and does not replace any. Yoga can do a great deal, and it does not treat disease. If you have a condition, are pregnant, are recovering from surgery or an injury, or are unsure whether practice is right for you, ask your doctor before you start and tell the teacher what they said.

Enquiries, bookings and fees

The contact form and WhatsApp are how you enquire. A class, course or retreat place is booked only when we confirm it with you. Fees, batch timings and what a course includes are not published on this site because they change; we confirm them with you before the course starts, and a message on WhatsApp counts as writing. Payment terms, and any cancellation or refund arrangement, are agreed in the same way when you book. If we have to cancel a class we offer another time; if a course or retreat cannot run at all, we return what you have paid for it.

Practising with us

  • You take part at your own risk and within your own limits. Nobody is asked to do a posture that hurts, and you may stop or rest at any point without explaining.
  • Tell the teacher before your first class about any injury, condition, pregnancy or medication that could matter, and again whenever it changes. A teacher who does not know cannot work around it.
  • Follow the teacher's instructions. The teacher may adapt, restrict or decline a practice for your safety, and may ask anyone to leave a class whose behaviour disturbs the others.
  • Come on time and on a light stomach. Phones stay silent and out of the room.
  • For the children's class, a parent or guardian makes the booking, gives consent, and stays reachable while the class runs.

Online classes

The online class is the same class, taught live at the same time, not a recording. You need a stable connection, a camera the teacher can see you in, and enough clear floor to practise safely. We do not record sessions unless we tell you beforehand, and you may not record or share a session without our permission. Online the teacher can see less of you, so saying when something is wrong matters more, not less.

Retreats and programmes elsewhere

Retreats, and the programmes we run for hotels, companies and campuses, take place at venues the school does not own. The venue's own rules apply to rooms, food and facilities. Travel, insurance and visas are your responsibility. The dates, what is included, and the cancellation terms for a particular retreat are set out when you book it and take precedence over the general terms here.

Photographs

From time to time we photograph or film classes, events and retreats for this site and the school's social media. We tell you when it is happening. If you would rather not appear, say so to the teacher and we will make sure of it. How to have an existing photograph taken down is on the privacy page.

Liability

The school takes reasonable care in how it teaches. To the extent Indian law allows, it is not liable for injury or loss that comes from ignoring the teacher's instructions, from a condition you did not tell us about, or from practising on your own outside class; nor for belongings lost at a venue, or for the acts of a venue or other business we do not control. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law does not allow to be limited.

Reviews on this site

The reviews shown on this site are what people have written about the school on Google. They are those people's own opinions, shortened where they were long and otherwise left as written.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the law of India. Any dispute that cannot be settled by talking goes to the courts at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Talking first is strongly preferred, and it has so far always been enough.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The current version is always the one on this page, with the date at the top. A change that matters to existing students is told to them directly.
