Abhilash has practised since 2007 and has been teaching at Kovalam since the school opened. His certification comes from the Sivananda International Yoga and Vedanta Ashram, and Yoga Alliance USA recognises him as an E‑RYT 500, a grading that requires both a registered qualification and documented teaching hours behind it.
The teaching is not loyal to a single school. Sivananda supplies the sequence and the emphasis on relaxation and pranayama; Iyengar supplies the precision about alignment and the willingness to use props to get a body into a shape it cannot yet reach alone; Ashtanga, from Pattabhi Jois, supplies the discipline of a practice you repeat rather than a class you attend.
What students most often mention in their reviews is not the postures. It is that he asks what you are trying to achieve before he decides what you should do, and that he watches the room rather than performing at it.
Where the school has taught
Alongside the daily classes at Kovalam, the school runs residential retreats, programmes for hotels and campuses, and one‑day intensives. It has taught in Kerala, in Bengaluru, and in France, and it teaches students online in seven countries: France, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Russia, Taiwan, Indonesia and China.
Every retreat the school has taught is listed with where and when it ran.
