A routine built for you
A general class asks a room of people to do the same thing. That works for most bodies most of the time, and it stops working the moment a shoulder, a lower back or a surgical history is in the room. This course starts from the other end: the school asks what you need first, and builds the sequence afterwards.
The intake covers what you want out of the practice, what you have done before, and what your medical history says. The school’s published description is exactly that: a routine designed around your requirements and your previous medical history.
What this is not
It is worth being plain. A custom yoga routine is not a treatment, and the school does not offer it as one. If a doctor has given you instructions or restrictions, those come first and the practice is built to fit inside them. Bring what you have been told; the more specific it is, the more useful the sequence will be.
What a designed routine does do is remove the guesswork. You stop modifying on the fly in the middle of a group class, and you stop avoiding whole families of postures because one of them once hurt.
Who takes it
Three sorts of student, mostly. People returning after an injury or a long gap. People with one specific thing they want to work on, often the lower back, the shoulders, or sleep. And people who travel, who need something that survives hotel rooms and time zones.
It runs for two months, which is short by the school’s standards, because the aim is to leave you with a routine rather than to keep you in a course.
